    @Slartibapfast

    Much obliged. The Adept looks fun. Perhaps even great enough to overcome my dislike of mages in my sci-fi, second time through, leastways.

    this is going to be one of those rare pc games that is actually going to preform great if you have the system requirements, Bioware is just one of the few company's that doesn't lie about system reqs so more people will buy the game.

    Three Cheers for Bioware!!!

    You are right to say there is no Assault class, however the Adept video has been released, it is on several other gaming websites in addition to the Mass Effect 2 website. I can see how the Gamespot staff easily missed it, it was the first released.

    @ royalarts

    There is no assault class, as evidenced in all the other class videos, so this is just a gameplay video of the Soldier class. I'm assuming its presence here is an error by those poor, overworked monkeys in the Gamespot dungeons. Far as I know, the Adept class video hasn't been released yet.

    This game will be amazin. For some reason i can not convince my friends to buy this game. They were apparently "Let Down" by Mass Effect 1 and well... What ever. This game is gonna prove to those PS3 fan-boys that Blu-ray isn't everything and The Xbox has perfectly fine graphics.

    @LimeOfDoom

    No, i think youre confused, the soldier is the only one in ME2 that can use an assault rifle, if u are NOT a soldier, than u will NOT see an assault rifle on ur back(which means u cant equip it, not even for looks). I dont even think u have to put points into an assault rifle skill, i guess that all depends on if the rifle ur using(accuracy/damage/firerate) have good stats, and there are no new classes, but there are new powers for the classes. I hope that explains ur confusion..

    Maybe u should look up some of the class videos, tells u everything about each class.

    @Royalarts

    Every class can use everyone weapon in ME1, so I'd assume its the same in ME2. Of course only soldiers could put points into assault rifle training in ME1, but this is a new class for ME2 which may explain your confusion.

    I thought only the soldier class could use assault rifles? other then that question the game looks amazing.

    did you just say "man up" ? its still a game......lol

    Posted Jan 13, 2010 5:25 pm GMT

    @Sseetoh
    Well it looks like you dont play many shooters...Bioware is ACTUALLY making you man up and not spray continuously at enemies without having to reload. Besides, its more realistic. I like reloading animations anyways. You know how in ME1 you could charge in with a buffed up soldier class using an assault rifle outfitted with frictionless materials and get out unscathed? Looks like you can't do that anymore.

    This time around they have put some actual effort and strategy behind smoking an enemy. Not just point and shoot with unlimited ammo. I like a game to challenge and push me the gamer/character to his/hers limits.

    Jeez this game on hard you'll get your ass behind cover or get mowed down..especially those damned droids..

    Posted Jan 12, 2010 7:43 am GMT

    I'm glad they made a reload for the weapons. It made the game way too easy to have unlimited ammo. There was no strategy, just point and shoot till its dead. Now there will be a reason to actually get behind cover. Though I'm not a huge fan of Gears of War, they still have the best cover system and reload setup of any game I've seen. If ME2 has anything like that, it's a huge plus for me.

    its noticable now because its a gameplay video, but will you really be analyzing shepard's face when you actually play the game. no, because you'll die in a hot second. the emotion needs to be in the cutscenes, which they have covered quite well

    Looks cool.
    Is it just me or the enemies take longer to kill in ME2?
    I wonder what difficulty they play at.

    no reloading= cheap heavy wewapons. this is NOT ME, this is teh next gen and if you have a prob with reloading, then don't play.

    on another technical note, wopchop is right. It has a block of metal put in and the weapon shaves off a sand grain-sized piece for every shot, which is mass eaccelerated out of the gun fast enough to penetrate stone. I like the reloading btw.

  • XtremeDude09

    Posted Jan 8, 2010 5:14 pm GMT

    The ammo thing is explained as it is a 'thermal block' which takes the heat from the gun and expels the old thermal block when another must be replaced. This is to take away the 'cool down time of weapons 2 years previous'.

    Never played the first one but this one looks pretty dman cool I may pick it up

    Well this is the same developer who actually gave every planet, including all the ones that had absolutely nothing to do with the story or side missions, a back strory and physical properties. They will definitely explain the ammo thing, time has passed since the first game things happen.

  • wopchop10

    Posted Jan 8, 2010 7:51 am GMT

    in the original game they did account for the metal slug. it explains that the gun has a block of metal put inside of it for ammunition and the gun shaves off extremely small amounts of it to create a "slug" that is then mass accelerated out of the gun. It goes on to say that the amount of metal shaved off from the block of metal is so small that the blocks of metal take so long to wear down that ammunition is never an issue anymore.. rather overheating is. Basically the gun will break from wear and tear before the metal bar inside the gun is depleted. In the new game i don't mind the addition of ammo but I do expect a good explanation for it.

    the whole "reloading" thing is down to the introduction of the new "cooling rod" system for firearms combat Gentlemen (gentlechicks? whatever gender )

    Not a very popular addition (as per a few earlier threads - see some of the "hands on" impressions updates for more info)... I'm going to wait and see how it Plays out myself before I draw too much of an opinion (21days and, yes… COUNTING down eagerly)

  • neonblueshadow

    Posted Jan 8, 2010 1:33 am GMT

    the mass accelerated metal slug system in the first game never accounted for the actual metal that was being accelerated out of the barrel (for example, the bullet). I think he is reloading because they fixed that issue. but you if you're complaining because you'd prefer going back to not worrying about bullets? I'm totally with you. ( but then the new heavy weapons would be ultra cheap...)

  • W00kie_Smuggler

    Posted Jan 7, 2010 11:04 pm GMT

    wait, why is he reloding? You never reloaded in the first game, as explained by the mass accelerated metal slug system

    Cool, the Blue Suns were a major group in the first novel for Mass Effect. Nice to see they've incorporated them over to the game.

    Shepered has such a noticable blank stare when he reloads or takes fire on him. Doesnt even look at his gun when he reloads. Hope they add some emotion to him or something becouse it's kinda wierd.
