My opinion of konami has been carried with me (along with my opinion of capcom) for many years, so while I do see what your getting at with crappy games they have made, I know that they have also made some of the best games in the industry. Sure they can do things wrong, Castlevania Judgement is a fine example. Comparing that to the 5 or so handheld versions of Castlevania they have done in the last few years, it doesn't really out weigh the quality they can (emphasis) achieve. But being a fan of Castlevania and Guilty Gear, well the two companies working together just seems like a fantastic idea.
It's interesting that you pointed out this game carried the Contra moniker with it at first. When I first saw the video, I thought that they had done a HD remake of it and had to double check the title. I can understand you being worried about that, but there are a few reasons why they could have went that route. But judging by most of the previous Contra games, I don't think you should be too worried. It is one series they haven't flubbed up too much. Yet
@shaun_ofda_dead Konami makes yu-gi-oh, and a good handful of horrible things so don't have too high of an opinion of them. I'm the hugest castlevania so I love konami as well but they can do things wrong. Such as Castlevania Judgement on wii. Also this game was originally slated to be a Contra title and it worries me that Konami pulled the Contra title off of it.
man you are soooo wrong. Ever heard of a game called Symphony of the Night? if konami would wise up and make a new castlevania similar to the style of that (or release the GBA games) for XBLA, they would make a mint off it (are you listening konami?!?!?!?!). Generally, hardcore gamers want games with substance not just flashy presentations.
This game looks sweet, got the contra meets metal slug and had a baby feel to it. I hope it's $10 bucks, $15 is too much for a XBLA game. But since it is konami and arc systems, I will buy it no matter what. The two of them can't make a game that is that bad
Yay thanks alot Probotector was it i think i had Part one and Two of them on nes great game still i didnt know so far that it was "changed" for german or european market
I'm among those super-excited for this one. Hard Corps is still officially "Contra" since it was originally a Genesis game, right? I remember it being ridiculously silly with a laser-shooting werewolf running on a 3D freeway. And some of the levels being part of the Contra Advance EX game on Game Boy Advance. Now if Konami would only announce Shattered Soldier 2 for XBLA...
@Gruug Actually, it shows you don't have a clue. If the gameplay is engrossing and the presentation is worth the price of admission, then there shouldn't be a problem. And it's looking like it has both in an XBLA game.
Side scrollers were cool in their day but now with other forms it is just old school in a flashy wrapper. It kind of shows how gaming companies do not have a clue on how to bring NEW stuff to the market and rely on recycled material.
excuse me all i also had an nes and i had the first contra name but it was called different, was the same game as contra but with robots instead of humams was distributed in germany, anyone knew how this game was called? i really loved it back in the days
If someone had just randomly shown me this video and not told me what it was I would have totally thought it was a new Contra. It looks pretty sweet though. Hopefully one of those games that rips off another so well that it's good.
Contra: Hard Corps is my favorite Contra game, so I am super excited for this. I love seeing all these old games get revamps, like Rocket Knight and Sonic 4. Now all we need is a new chapter in the original Phantasy Star series. Edit: Love the guys playing the game and all his commentary all the little noises he makes.
